I have a knack for detail and a knack for making mis-matched things come together, so interior design is the perfect job for me. Folk Art - Craft from the Past
Folk art is craft from our own ancestors - history in an object. Whenever we admire a nimbly woven basket, an intricately carved decoy duck or an wonderfully stitched hand sewn quilt we are appreciating items of folk art. But what exactly does the term "folk art" describe? In a nutshell,Simply, it was coined in the United States early last century to describe items crafted by folk who had never had any formal training in carving a decoy duck or weaving a basket for instance. Previously terms such as "naive" or "primitive" had been employed to describe such objects, but neither is as evocative as the term "folk" art - the simple, ordinary, modest art made by plain ordinary folk.
